What do coastal bulletins contain?
A marine weather bulletin is always structured the same way and includes:
- Any BMS (Special Weather Bulletins), to warn of gales
- The general weather situation, to understand the evolution of current weather systems
- The marine forecast, providing information on upcoming wind, swell, sea state, weather and visibility
What is the coverage and validity of coastal bulletins?
The bulletins cover a band extending up to 20 nautical miles off the French coasts and are divided into 9 zones, as shown on the map above.
They are updated three times a day — around 06:15, 12:15, and 18:15 — and provide forecasts for today, tonight and tomorrow.
